Chowrasta connects Indians abroad via country and city communities, events, marketplace, and housing features. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We align with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines on user safety, data minimization, and permissions. See: App Store Review Guidelines.

1. Data We Collect

• Account & Profile: name, email, country/city, language, avatar.
• User Content: posts, chats, listings, events, housing info, reviews.
• Usage & Device: app/browser type, pages, interactions, generalized device info, crash logs.
• Location (optional): coarse or precise, to show nearby city groups/events/housing. You can disable anytime.
• Media/Contacts (optional): camera/photos for listing images or event flyers; contacts only if you choose to invite friends.
• Payments: if paid features are offered, limited transaction metadata (handled by Apple or payment processors; we don’t store full card data).

2. How We Use Data

• Provide core features (communities, events, marketplace, housing) and personalize results.
• Safety and moderation (spam/scam detection, abuse reports, legal compliance).
• Communicate service notices, replies, and—only with consent—marketing updates.
• Analytics to improve reliability and performance (aggregated/de‑identified where possible).

3. Legal Bases

We process data based on consent (permissions, marketing), contract (providing the service), and legitimate interests (fraud prevention, product improvement), and where required, legal obligations.

4. Sharing

• Service providers (hosting, analytics, email) under contract and confidentiality.
• Safety/legal: to investigate abuse, comply with law, or protect rights.
• We do not sell personal data. We do not share for third‑party advertising.

5. Permissions & Platform Disclosures

• Location: to sort communities/events/housing near you. Optional; toggle in device settings.
• Camera/Photos: to upload listing/event images. Optional.
• Microphone: only if voice messages are added; optional.
• Contacts: to find/invite friends only with your consent.
• Notifications: opt‑in. Used for messages/replies, event reminders/updates, account/security alerts, and—only with separate consent—marketing updates. Manage in iOS Settings → Notifications → Chowrasta.
• Tracking: we do not perform cross‑app tracking. If introduced, we will request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission.

6. User‑Generated Content & Safety

We provide in‑app reporting on posts, event pages, marketplace items, and housing/roommate listings, plus user blocking/muting controls. We moderate objectionable content consistent with Apple's Safety and UGC rules. Child‑safety reports are prioritized and may be shared with authorities as required by law. 7. Children

Chowrasta is intended for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn we've collected data from a minor, we will delete it.

8. Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can request deletion from the app (More tab → Delete Account at the bottom) or email contact@chowrasta.app. Backups may persist briefly for security and audit.

9. International Transfers & Security

Data may be processed in other countries with protections such as contracts and encryption in transit and at rest, where supported.

10. Your Choices & Rights

• Access, correct, delete your data.
• Request a copy (export) of your data by emailing contact@chowrasta.app.
• Opt out of marketing notifications.
• Revoke permissions (Location, Camera, Photos, Contacts, Microphone) in device settings.

11. Cookies & Local Storage

We use essential cookies/local storage for session and preferences; no third‑party ad cookies.

12. In‑App Purchases

Digital features in iOS use Apple In‑App Purchase. Refunds and billing are governed by Apple's policies; see device settings or Apple support.

13. Changes

We may update this Policy. We'll post the new date and, for material changes, notify you in‑app.
