Chowrasta is rated 18+ as a social platform with user‑generated content and peer‑to‑peer interactions (country and city communities, events, marketplace, housing). This rating ensures mature use of features in diverse international contexts.
- Adult Community: Designed for adults living abroad; not for minors.
- Content Standards: Community rules prohibit hate, harassment, sexual exploitation, violence, and misinformation.
- Safety Measures: Reporting tools, blocking/muting, and human moderation with escalation for high‑risk issues.
- Peer‑to‑Peer: All transactions are off‑platform between users; Chowrasta does not process money.
Manual Content Protection
- Human Review: Reported content is reviewed by trained moderators; complex cases escalate to senior review.
- Community Reports: Report buttons on posts, messages, events, marketplace, and housing listings.
- Guidelines: Clear guardrails (see Community Rules) enforced by human moderation.
Spam & Harassment Prevention
- Pattern monitoring for spam/harassment and abuse.
- Block/mute controls and in‑app reporting.
- Rate limiting and friction for suspicious behavior (e.g., rapid posting or messaging).
Manual Safety Review
- Keyword/behavior flags route content for extra review (violence, self‑harm, scams, child safety).
- Links and images may be reviewed when reported or flagged.
- Emergency escalation for credible threats or crises.
Permissions: Notifications & Location
- Notifications (opt‑in): used for messages/replies, event reminders/updates, and account/security alerts. Promotional messages are sent only with separate consent. Manage in iOS Settings → Notifications → Chowrasta.
- Location (optional): used to surface nearby country/city communities, events, and housing. You can deny or revoke anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Chowrasta. We do not require background location for core use.
- No cross‑app tracking: we do not track you across apps/websites. If we ever introduce features that require it, we will request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission first.
Community Reporting & Human Moderation
- Categories: spam, harassment, inappropriate, misinformation, violence, hate, scam, stolen/IP, discrimination (housing), safety, other.
- SLA: We aim to review reports within 24–72 hours; child‑safety and imminent‑harm reports are prioritized.
- Appeals: Users may appeal moderation outcomes via contact@chowrasta.app.
Rate Limiting & Abuse Prevention
- Posting and messaging rate limits to deter spam or dogpiling.
- IP/device‑based limits and challenges for suspicious activity.
- Account lockouts on repeated failed logins.
Emergency Safety Protocols
- Continuous monitoring for high‑risk signals where feasible.
- Immediate escalation for credible threats, self‑harm, or violence.
- Cooperation with law enforcement where legally required.
- Crisis resources (US): 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; text HOME to 741741. Emergency: call 911 or your local emergency number.
Platform Safety Features
- Comprehensive blocking and privacy controls.
- Anonymous reporting option (email) and transparent appeals.
- Content management: delete posts/comments/messages; visibility controls.
Transparency & Continuous Improvement
- Policy updates posted publicly; metrics and reporting may be shared periodically.
- Ongoing training for moderators and iterative safety improvements.
